Locate the Federal Way veterinary opening

Federal Way is an incorporated city in King County and a member of the Puget Sound Regional Council. Give the hospital street address and name any Kent or Burien site that belongs to the same role. Tacoma is in Pierce County, so list a Tacoma site as a separate assignment.

Set surgery and dentistry independence

State which surgical and dental procedures the associate performs alone in the first month, which need a second doctor and what training or supervision is available while skills develop. Washington rules bar technicians and assistants from performing surgery except as listed, so confirm who assists in the room. Write the expectations down so the candidate can compare them with other offers.

  • Procedures performed alone
  • Procedures needing a second doctor
  • Training and assistant support

Confirm clinical credentials and the hiring decision

Assign responsibility for Washington license verification through the Department of Health Provider Credential Search, plus any employer-required specialty credentials and references. Record the verification date and unresolved conditions before confirming a start date. BEGHR sources and screens against your agreed requirements; your practice interviews, selects and directly employs the successful professional. The Department of Health determines license eligibility.

What veterinarians compare when weighing a Federal Way offer

A Federal Way veterinary opening competes with other practices across the Seattle area for the same experienced candidates. The employers that move fastest describe the practice honestly: whether it is a companion animal hospital built around wellness care, an emergency or specialty referral center, or a mixed practice, and how the role fits the team that already provides care to clients and their pets. A competitive offer is clear about pay structure and benefits. Explain whether the role is salaried or production-based and how any production percentage is applied, and confirm the benefits that come with it: comprehensive health insurance including dental and vision, paid time off, a CE allowance with protected days, coverage of license and DEA fees, professional liability insurance, a retirement plan, and whether a sign-on or relocation bonus is available.

Team, schedule and growth in a Federal Way practice

Hospital culture is a deciding factor for many candidates. Explain how the medical team works together, the technician and assistant support each doctor receives, how cases are discussed, and how the practice handles difficult clients. Include the development path: mentorship and continuing education for newer veterinarians, and leadership, medical director or ownership opportunities for experienced doctors.

  • Full-time or part-time status and the number of scheduled days per week (for example, a four-day week)
  • Appointment length, typical daily caseload and the balance of wellness, sick and surgical cases
  • Weekend, evening and emergency on-call expectations, and how after-hours care is covered
  • The exact Federal Way hospital location and any rotation between sites in the Seattle area
  • Washington licensing status required at start and the support offered for a transfer or new license
  • Start date flexibility, relocation support and how quickly the practice can make a decision

Practice types a Federal Way search can cover

Veterinary employers in and around Federal Way range from single-doctor clinics to large animal hospitals and multi-site groups. The brief changes with the type of practice, so the search starts by naming which of these the opening belongs to.

  • General practice and wellness: small animal (companion animal) hospitals focused on preventive care, vaccines, dentistry and routine surgery
  • Emergency and urgent care: 24-hour emergency hospitals, overnight ER teams and extended-hours urgent care for pets
  • Specialty and referral: surgery, internal medicine, cardiology, oncology, neurology, dermatology, and diagnostic imaging and critical care services
  • Mixed and large animal: practices that treat livestock and equine patients alongside small animals, often with ambulatory calls
  • Exotics, shelter and community medicine: avian and exotic pet practices, shelter medicine and nonprofit clinics
  • Practice leadership: medical director, chief of staff and regional roles in private, partnership and corporate veterinary groups

How a recruiting partner helps a Federal Way practice hire

Many of the veterinarians who would be the right fit for a Federal Way practice are not actively looking. They are employed, busy with patients and only open to a move when someone explains why the opportunity is better than their current role. A recruiting partner helps by reaching those people directly, presenting the practice honestly and screening each candidate against the brief before the hospital spends time on interviews. For Federal Way employers, the search starts with the hiring brief and a review of the location, schedule and compensation structure. BEGHR manages the client relationship and invoicing, while the recruiting delivery team provides sourcing, screening and candidate presentation. The practice keeps every hiring decision, interviews the people it wants, and makes the offer directly. Pricing is shown after the employer opt-in, and the agreement sets out billable milestones and replacement terms.

Review the fee and billable milestones before sourcing

Select your role and complete the employer opt-in to receive pricing. BEGHR manages your client account and invoices while the recruiting delivery team handles sourcing, screening and candidate delivery. Your agreement defines billable work, invoice timing and replacement conditions. Completed billable milestones may remain payable without a hire. Recruiting coverage does not represent a local office or an available candidate inventory.

For the wider engagement, review our veterinary recruiting services and the employer search process.

Check the work location and recruiting scope.

Use the City of Seattle neighborhood snapshots, the Puget Sound Regional Council member organizations and the Washington Office of Financial Management April 1 population estimates to distinguish municipalities, neighborhoods and the actual work address. King, Snohomish and Pierce county sites also describe their cities. Confirm the actual hospital address with the employer, especially when a familiar name such as Lake City or White Center is not itself an incorporated city or a Community Reporting Area.

For the service itself, review BEGHR’s permanent veterinary placement service and placement scope and milestone billing. These pages describe employer recruiting coverage, not separate local offices. Geography sources do not establish candidate availability or placement results.

Plan Washington credential checks before the start date.

Use the Washington State Department of Health Provider Credential Search for the relevant professional record. Washington licenses veterinarians through the Department of Health, with rules set by the Veterinary Board of Governors. Assign a person to verify license status and any disciplinary action, record the date and resolve questions with the Department. Check specialty credentials the employer requires, such as board certification, with the issuing organization. The Department also licenses veterinary technicians and registers veterinary medication clerks, so confirm those credentials for the team the new doctor will supervise.

For a candidate moving from another state, review the Department of Health veterinarian license application page. Do not treat an out-of-state license or a preferred start date as confirmation that Washington requirements are satisfied. The Department says the state jurisprudence examination stopped being an initial licensing requirement on July 28, 2025 and is now continuing education completed after licensure and before the first renewal, while its licensing requirements page still describes the older examination, so confirm timing with the Department. BEGHR does not issue licenses.

Employer questions

Veterinary recruiting questions

Which veterinary roles do you recruit in Federal Way?

BEGHR reviews permanent associate veterinarian, specialist, emergency DVM, surgeon, medical director and regional leadership searches for employers hiring in Federal Way. Share the actual clinical duties, hospital location and schedule so the recruiting team can confirm search fit before an engagement.

Can you recruit candidates relocating to Federal Way?

The search can discuss candidates who are open to relocation. Specify the actual hospital address, required start date and any approved relocation support. Candidate interest, availability and credential requirements are confirmed during the search; no local candidate pool or relocation outcome is guaranteed.

Is this permanent recruiting or temporary relief staffing?

This website focuses on permanent veterinary placements for employers. Immediate locum or temporary shift coverage is a different requirement and is not promised by this service. State the employment type and working pattern before a search is scoped.

How does milestone billing work?

Agree the role, estimated fee range, billable milestones and payment terms before the search begins. Recruiting uses an hourly, pay-as-you-go model within the agreed range. BEGHR’s published placement process starts billing after applicants are sent. Invoices follow the agreed cadence, at least monthly during billable service delivery. BEGHR handles client billing and account questions.

Do we pay if a search does not result in a hire?

Milestone billing pays for agreed work as the search progresses, so completed billable milestones may still be payable without a placement. Your client agreement specifies the billing triggers, amounts, due dates and any cancellation terms.

Where can we see our placement price?

Select your role, complete the hiring questions and submit your employer contact details through the pricing form to receive an estimated fee range. BEGHR confirms the role classification, final fee and payment milestones before you engage the service.

How long does placement take?

BEGHR’s placement timeframe is 23–55 days. Timing depends on the role, candidate availability and the employer’s hiring process.

How does BEGHR pricing compare with contingency recruiting?

BEGHR offers placement at typically 50% less than contingency recruiting and 50% off second and subsequent hires for the same role. Use the pricing form for an estimate and confirm your fee and repeat-hire eligibility before starting.

What fill rate does BEGHR report?

BEGHR reports 86% fill rate on active searches across its placement service. This provider-wide figure is not a city-specific or veterinary-only result and does not guarantee an individual hiring outcome.

Who receives my employer inquiry?

Business Executive Group receives your contact information, selected roles, qualification answers, placement estimate and the originating website and page through its existing BEGHR lead intake. This is an employer inquiry, not a candidate job application.

How are placement fees confirmed?

The instant-pricing form uses BEGHR’s role categories and current retail ranges to show an estimate after you submit your employer details. The provider confirms the actual category, scope, payment milestones and commercial terms before a search engagement begins.
